Ego Investments 1 LLC is a life insurance company that finds rates for people who need coverage. That is the whole business. Caroline Okoye runs it, and when you call, you are talking to the person whose name is on the door β not a call center script, not a chatbot, not a form that promises somebody will follow up in three to five business days.
Most people put this off for years. They know they should have something in place, they get a quote online that looks confusing, and they close the tab. What we do differently is start with a conversation instead of a calculator.
What we ask before we quote a rate
A number without context is useless. Before Caroline gives you a figure, she wants to understand what the money is actually for. That takes a few minutes and it changes the answer a lot.
- Who would be financially affected if you were gone tomorrow β a spouse, kids, an aging parent, a business partner?
- What would they need covered? A mortgage balance, tuition, a few years of income, funeral costs, or all of it?
- How long does that need last? Twenty years while the kids are at home is a very different product than something permanent.
- What does your health history look like? Be honest here. It shapes which carriers are worth applying to.
- What are you already paying for coverage you may not need, or not paying for coverage you assume you have?
Once we have those answers, the rate conversation gets short and concrete. You will know what you are buying and why, and you will be able to explain it to your spouse that night without pulling out a brochure.
Why the 3am call gets answered
We are open Monday through Sunday, around the clock. That is not a marketing line β it exists because of how people actually live. Nurses and truck drivers and warehouse workers finish shifts at hours when insurance offices are dark. New parents think about this stuff at 2am while the baby is up. Somebody gets a diagnosis on a Friday afternoon and does not want to sit with it until Monday.
If you are awake worrying about it, you should be able to get an answer. That is the entire reason the phone stays on.
You are also not passed around. The person who quotes you is the person who takes your application questions, the person who explains a rate class you did not expect, and the person who picks up two years later when your situation changes. Continuity matters more in this business than most people realize, because a life insurance decision you made at 32 rarely still fits at 45.
Four situations we hear about most
Term versus whole life
Term is cheaper and covers a defined stretch of years. Whole life costs more and builds cash value. Neither one is the right answer for everybody, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling, not advising. We walk through both against your actual budget and timeline.
Coverage for new parents
A new baby is the single most common reason people finally make the call. The good news is that young parents usually qualify for the best rates they will ever see, so locking something in now is worth doing before another year passes.
Gaps in an employer policy
Group coverage through work is a nice benefit, but it is often one or two times salary, and it disappears the day the job does. We look at what your employer plan actually covers and size a personal policy to fill the gap, so your family's protection is not tied to your badge.
Applying with a health history
Diabetes, high blood pressure, a cardiac event, a cancer history, sleep apnea, mental health treatment β none of these automatically disqualify you. Carriers rate these conditions very differently from one another. Knowing which company to approach with your particular file is most of the job.
What clients say after the policy is in place
I had been putting this off for six years because I assumed I would be declined over my blood pressure. Caroline found a carrier that barely blinked at it, and my premium was lower than I had braced for.
She explained the difference between term and whole life in about ten minutes without once making me feel stupid for asking. We went with a 20-year term and I actually understand what I bought.
My work policy would have left my wife about eighteen months of income. Caroline showed me the math, we added a personal policy on top, and I sleep better. She followed up after the medical exam to tell me where it stood, which I did not expect.
Working with a licensed agent means somebody is accountable to you for the recommendation, not just for the sale. If a policy stops making sense for your life, we would rather hear from you and fix it than have you quietly stop paying.
